Web Design Terminology & Definitions

Following is a comprehensive listing of the primary facets of a web design house, how it operates and key concepts in website development. Included are key personnel and expected salaries/fees, how a project starts in both site mapping and concepting, all the way to search engine optimization terms.

There are quite a few references to average national payscales, particularly in staff positions within a design house. The Northeast and West Coast may average higher, while the Southeast may be lower. At the same time, the highest levels of technical expertise and educational knowledge are also found in the Northeast and West Coast, so trade-offs do occur between pricing, skill sets and functionality.
